22re starts but wont idle

so after i picked up some new tires on a sweet craigslist deal, my truck died on me on the way home. the check engine light came on a few seconds before. it starts fine runs for like 3 seconds and dies. i let it cool down and tried it again. still no luck. i checked my grounds and fuses all are fine. it seems like a fuel problem, maybe a clogged fuel filter because it seems like it gets enough to start but not to run like normal. any ideas?

also during the last couple weeks if i drive it on the freeway for like 45 minutes then hit traffic or get off the freeway it dies, starts back up idles low then dies. this only happens a few times then its back to business as usual.

thanks

I've had a bit of problems with my truck after a rebuild. To me this sounds like it could be a mass air flow issue. I know that probably won't be the knee jerk reaction most people might have, but sounds like something you could look at that isn't a common idea.
I'd be interested to hear which error code it's throwing.
