Got a set of 3" lift bj spacers on the way and want to know if 6" shackles will level me out in the rear.

 

I know it will be a 3" in the front and the shackles will give me 2". But are the spacers really going to give me a true 3 inches? Id like to not go over 6" on the shackles

Shackles rule of thumb is take stock bolt hole to bolt hole distance then whatever that is from new shackle bolt hole to bolt hole cut in half is expected lift.

1 and 1/2" bj spacer is theoretically supposed to yield 3" of lift. Was mainly checking to see of those who put these on how much actual lift they got out of them.

If its almost three a 6" inch shackle will give me a full 2" in the rear and I should be good to go.

 

the 1 1/2" bj spacers didn't give me 3" of lift, more like 2", and then I relaxed my torsion bars a little to lower it to something more like 1 to 1 1/2". The front is adjustable, and if you leave it at 2-3" lift it will be hard on steering components and axles.

 

Trail-only truck or daily driver? I wouldn't recommend longer shackles on a daily driver. I tried to install them and ran into too many problems to list here in this Quick Reply. New springs with some more arch is a way, way better option. More money, but way way less aggrevation long-term.

Trail truck, do whatever, just keep things safe.

 

i went with longer shackes and like others said you get 1/2 of the length of the shackle. i went 3 inches longer and got about 1.5 inches of lift. mine was just to fight the saggy springs though

I fell into alot of good deals on my tires bracket lift and all. My trucks a trail rig and im planning a sas but just want to clear my tires right now with out cutting or body lifting.

I know this will get me lock to lock but probably not under full stuff. If not ill get out the cutting wheel.

 

1.5" BJ spacers should technically only net 1.5" lift unless you're touching your t-bars. when I put mine on I actually lowered my truck down 1" to bring it closer to stock height - but this was before 33s. after 33s i had to t-bar crank around 1" and busted out the cutoff wheel and sledge for the rest of clearance. front end is around 22" center axle to bottom of fender.

in back, 2" longer shackle for every 1" lift you want. rear i have OME leafs w/stock 3.5" shackle, but plan to increase shackle length this year to maybe 5". currently rear is around 22.5" center axle to bottom of fender.

 

FWIW, I put 1.5in BJ spacers on my truck with a 2in Add a leaf and it set nicely level. Dont crank your tbars much if you do. I had my truck set up at first with bj spacers, and a 3in AAL, but had the tbars cranked to level it. It snapped a CV joint when I put it 4WD
