WELL MY 22R IS JUST WORN OUT
she uses 2 qts of oil in about 150 miles and not one drop of that is from leaking on the ground. rings are done for. so im going to be swaping to a 2000 saab 2.0 turbo engine with a small t25 turbo and about 8lbs of boost. 185 hp.also will be doing the trans i got from an 87 truck and dual cases. what you guys think. it should be a pretty easy swap i have the engine, engine harness, ecu, just need to hang it in there build some mounts and build a cross member for the new trans and t case set up.

 

will be interesting to see.... Lots of horsepower, but hows the torque gonna be? From my experience with those motors... they are completely bagless till the turbo gets spooled up....

 

they actually spool up quite fast and have great low end power. the older saab engines from like 900/9000 era had t3 turbos much bigger so they had lag. the engine is out of my 2000 9-3 i am building a 2.3 for my car so i have a donor engine and most the parts. the new 2.0 turbo engines have all lightened valve train and pistons so they rev faster and make much smoother power. it wont be out of control im going to turn the boost back some as well

 

I really want to see this. I'm really looking to do an engine swap but haven't decided what i want yet.

 

should be sending the block tranny flywheels starters and clutches to the machine shop to see what they can work up here in the next few weeks hope it wont take too long to get it back

 

yeah im interested in this build too. i happen to work for a saab dealership so i want to know how this turns out. wouldnt it be easier to just drop a good ol 350 in it and still be able to get parts easy? finding saab parts is not always the funnest experience, especially if something breaks on the trail.

 

I as well work at a saab dealer and parts are an issue but we have 6 saabs in the family I already have my engine trionic 5 harness ecu. I don't want a American swap I have a Passion for saabs and my engine I'm building for my 9-3 is a 2.3 has je race pistons no balance chains no ac. So that's how I got my 2.0 for my truck

 

oh ok thats cool. i like them too, very fun to drive. almost bought an '08 93 with the 2.0t engine for a sweet deal but someone beat me to it. anyway, would be cool if it works out. what would you use for a trans? surely the toyota trans wouldnt work with the saab engine.

 

I am using a 87 Toyota trans having an adapter plate machined for it

 

Did this project ever get completed? I have a low milage 2000 saab motor assembly that I'm wanting to install in my 1990 Toyota Pickup.
