In your opinion what's better and what would you choose?

Well I want a manual but can't find a tranny for 5VZFE. Any suggestions?

 

sorry, it's not clear what you are asking. please be a little more specific.

I have driven manual 3.4 trucks and now own an auto, i am generally a stick shift guy though. I prefer a stick on the road but an auto for wheeling for 2 footing it loading up the TC and not having to ride the clutch sometimes. the manual trans will have a lot better throttle response on the street in my experience. also positive gear selection can be nice in some cases. I really hate the hunting between gears that autos will do at some speeds. I guess if I really had to choose, it would be a manual.

 

It all depends on the driving you do and if this truck is for work or pleasure.

i live in the woods and for rural and interstate driving I enjoy having a clutch pretty much for being able to disengage the drive train when things get slippery .

if I was building a mostly off road crawler I would go with Automatic they have gotten much better in the last 20 years.

Also if I lived in a large town and most of my driving was in heavy traffic I would go automatic.

If others will be driving the truck They will kill the clutch in No time.

 

No I am the only one that drives it. If I do find a tranny I will keep and rebuild my auto for later use. Im not a big mud fan but do like to hit open trails not anything extreme that I could break something. Just casual driving/cruising. I want a manual but can't find a tranny for the 3.4 any ideas anyone? I don't care if it works or not I can/will rebuild it.

 

Im looking into doing a R150F swap. I have a 1995 toyota t100 3.4 4x4.

Do they make a kit for the r150f to keep 4x4?
and a kit to do the swap I would need everything.

A website for this would be help full.

 

My 5 speed has been a pleasure to drive. I have had a couple mid-size and large trucks in a manual, and the 4runner is more responsive and smoother than all of the trucks and all but maybe one car I've owned. I do mostly city driving, with a few monthly non-technical offroad miles in 4wd.

 

No one makes a kit. You are going to have to man up and research and do it yourself or pay someone to do it.

I'd have to lean towards the auto, as stated, in city driving it makes life a bit easier. Offroad I still prefer the auto because it allows for more throttle finess when crawling over obstacles, negotiating a steep grade, or assisting a disabled buddy on the trails. Like sandwiches, each person will have their own opinions, it comes down to your particular tastes. I myself like an auto, if I want it to be a manual, I hit the ECT button, lock out overdrive, and drop it either in low or the lower 2 gears, simple as that.

 

Okay, well I've been thinking a lot lately and o think im gonna say with the auto. But I want a rebuild kit for it maybe something that can hold more HP.

Any ideas?
