1990 pickup 22re 2wd 4 banger so i got new front brakes put on and 2 brand new rotors and a 1 rear wheel cylinder and a brake fluid flush and repacked the front wheel bearings
i paid $500

What was it worth to you?

I would have done that all myself for slightly less, but I 'm sure the parts I use are better quality.

 

Shops charge good money for labor, they do have a bit of overhead. In my area I would say that's a pretty typical charge for parts and labor. Brakes are one of the few things I can do though so I like doing it myself. When I tighten that last bolt up it's like putting $300 in my wallet.

Looks about right for my shop. I would say the real question is did you get quality parts for that price? With my shop, we use OEM equivalent parts, unless we get a cheapo. Then it's usually advanced on the low end, carquest or napa in the middle. A good brake job like one I do with quality parts should last at least 40k miles, as long as your not braking like a road racer. My last set of pads lasted 65k, and they could have made it another 5-10.

 

Did you pay to much no not really if you did not have the skills or tools or place to do it your self.

What would be a better break down is the bill .

How much for the parts and how much for the labor Looking at the Labor is a better way to tell if one paid to much.

It would also be nice to know just what brand parts were used.

That's a pretty easy job, especially on a 2wd but the price sounds about right for just blindly taking it into a shop.

My front brakes have about 55K miles on em right now and I use pretty cheap parts so you shouldn't have to worry about it for a awhile and I suppose that's worth $500 if you can't do it yourself.
