v6 low compression mechanic says I need new motor. HELP

My mechanic said the previous owner had used a sealant in the radiator and now the compression is low, he says I'm going to need a new engine, I'm not the most mechanically inclined and hes quoting me at 3800$ for parts and labor. Does any of this sound right?

A 3.crap I assume from "V6" and this section.
For that kind of money do a 3.4 swap.

It's a 3.0 3vz and the mechanic said the last guy used a sealant in the radiator and that the compression is bad is some cylinder (he a trusted mechanic) so he says I need to replace the engine. How long do you think this engine will last? Im very short on cash atm so idk

prob not long, if you need a replacement dont do the 3800, either buy a replacement motor from a junk yard and swap it yourself (if you can) or send it to wabbit and do a 3.4 swap, better motor, better performance, better mpgs

Well with the help of my dad whos swapped before I don't think it will be too hard.

Is there anything special needed or is it just a donor car and swap it over?

Also what type of tools would I need.

There are several threads here about the swap in great detail. There is some harness splicing & several odds & ends you need to know beforehand. You can find all the 3.4 swaps here:
