Two2Three's 89 Standard Cab

I picked this up earlier this week for $300, It cranks over like it has no compression. I have a 87 with a 22r that I am going to use as a donor motor since the body is rusted beyond repair. Looks like I have a fun project to tackle.

So, ended up going a different route. Picking up a rebuilt 22re long block, and sold the 87 to cover the ost of the long block.

Chassis has 266k, but everything looks pretty straight. Hopefully get the motor back in this next weekend.

I have not done much on this project, it has been in my garage collecting dust. I have the rebuilt motor almost ready to be dropped back in, hopefully have it running by early Feb.

Is it just taking you a long time to rebuild the motor? If you dedicated some days to it how fast could you rebuild a 22r?

Health reasons really is what is holding me back. I was diagnosed with renal kidney failure, been going through dialysis and just being really tired. Starting to get some energy again, need to get this thing on the road.

So after about a year from when I started this project, I finally got the truck back together. I seemed to have screwed up the vacuum lines though, I have a surging idle.

Wow man nice truck for only 300$$$!!! Sorry to hear about the kidney failure. Hope thats going better for you.

Glad to hear you got the truck up and running.

As far as the idle surge, Have you checked the TPS along with the vacuum lines? Sometimes that can cause the idle to surge. Also, is it surging all the time, under braking, etc... A little more info if you can.

Seems like it surges when it's cold, but after thermostat opens it smooths out.

Looks like it was air trapped in the cooling system, it seems to have gone away after I topped off the radiator.
