Says "Generally speaking you need a little more advance with a Weber than with the stock carb. A good place to start for most cars with Webers on pump gas is 12-14 Degrees advance at 1000 RPM idle and 36 Degrees total advance by 3000 RPM...This is not cast in stone and you need to make sure your car does not Detonate at these setting. If you get any detonation then you need to back off the timing"
Working my way up to 18 degrees, power gets better and smoother. Stopped advancing at 20 degrees with power still getting stronger.
How far can I (should I) advance? Does the 22R ping (detonate) in an obvious way??
Vacuum advance is to outer diaphragm and off the carburetor port.

i have a bone stock 87 4x4 22r with a weber 32/36 and i have mine set at 0 degrees (stock) ive tried advancing it to the suggested 15-18 degrees but i starting getting a slight knock and it seemed to run the same as it did at 0 degrees? it has good power throughout the band.... dunno if its related but it does drink some gas i average about 15 mpg with 31's.
id be interested in hearing others timing setup as well
