Talking 9.8 @71mph in the 1/8th for 96 SC

Not that many of you race your 4Runners, but I thought some might be interested in the times from our local 1/8th mile track. I have a 96 SR5 with the TRD SC and TRD tranny cooler...I ran a 9.8 @71mph with a 2.2 60ft time. Not bad at all for a 4k+ lbs SUV with 130,000 miles (about 20k with the SC) *haha*

So,what was your 1/4 mile or was it on an 1/8 mile track? I think your 1/4 would be about just under 15 seconds.

It was an 1/8th mile track only....my Supra runs 8.0 @ mid 90's mph....but thats on street tires and 93 octane pump gas...no drag radials...my bro's twin turbo Stealth runs 7.85 in the 1/8th cant beat that all-wheel-drive launch..he gets 1.7 60ft times on street tires and pump gas on the other hand, my Supra runs 120mph in the 1/4 on only 18psi..and I can go up to 27psi *evil grin*

No fuel mods on the 4Runner...but I dont have a pinging problem either (or if it does, its very rare)

Yeah,I miss my AWD,consistent 1.8 60's with an occasional 1.7. my 8th miles were about 8.5s at 82mph.

My bro has been a DSM'er for about 15years...and has had many GSM's including a couple of GSX's, Mirage Turbo, Galant VR4, and a couple Stealth TT's....he posts as JohnM and his 94 Stealth TT is currently running 12.5 @110 on the stock twins (they are TINY turbos)...yeah...I'd love AWD...I see where the new Lexus 3xx will have AWD...I might look into that..and maybe a supercharger *ehehehe* here's my bro's site:

Hey speed racer-

What all have you done to your "single turbo supra"??? I'd love to hear...also what do you estimate it's 1320 to be based off your "120 trap speed"???...they must have forgotten to turn the clock on huh???

Fill me in, I'm clueless.

96trdsc-

So, from my very limited knowledge, a stock non-turbo inline 6 should run a 1320 in just over 15 sec. @ about 90 mph. What all have you done to that bady boy to gain 4 sec and 30 mph? Also, what brand turbo are you running?? Fill me in.

Actually the NA Supras with 220hp struggled to run under a mid 15;really not much better than a Civic Si.

I think his car started out as a turbo but correct me if I'm wrong.

You are correct...my Supra started out as a twin turbo from the factory...my bro and I took off the stock turbos and put on a bigger single turbo that could flow more than the max of both stock ones...stock horsepower is 320, stock times are 13.4 @106mph in the 1/4.....stock boost is ~11psi....I run 18psi on the street with this SP57 single turbo(more than 18psi on the stock turbo's)....here's an example of the same setup I have on my car:
http://www.sound-performance.com/cus...tewaterman.htm

484.4RWHP/469.7RWTQ at ~17.5PSI with fuel delivery issues
448.1RWHP/433RWTQ at ~16PSI
11.53@126.36MPH at 24PSI on race gas (shifting into 5th)
12.01@124.53MPH at 18PSI on pump gas (off the rev limiter in 4th)

again..I usually run 18psi on the street...and would only run 24-27psi at the track with race gas

I have a friend here in Colorado that hung a T66 off the stock 3 liter save for a ARP studs and a better headgasket and laid down 626whp on the dyno at 24psi and 101 octane.

At the strip on DOT legal drag radials ran a 11.41@123mph up here at 5800ft and that was with a conservative launch just trying to maintain traction.
He was also known to pull away from a Viper at a 90mph roll start.

Supras are one of the easiest cars to extract horespower from for little money plus a stock bottom end that can handle over 800whp.
I have another friend with a '94 TT and with just an exhaust, downpipe, filter and a manual boost controller laid down 431whp and that was with just a $1200 investment.

I really want a Supra sometime but thanks to Fast & the Furious the entry price is a bit steep.
