New to the yota world...need some advice

I have been wanting a 1st gen 4runner for the longest time and finally decided to sell my f150 and get one . Anyway, I am still pretty new to toyotas so I could use some advice on what to get. I found a stock 87 with 166k for $2900 that I liked and could probably talk down a bit. Also found an 87 with SAS, turbod 22re, and 36 iroks and 5.29s for $6000 firm. First question is how would the 22re handle the 36s? I don't want to have to pull hills at 35. Also, how would a 22re handle 33s with stock gearing if I were to buy the stock truck and throw a lift and tires on it? Any other advice you guys might have would be awesome. I am not dead set on getting one of these 2, so other things I should look for would be good to know.
Thanks

Well to answer in short 5.29s/36s with a 22ret will blow a 22re with 4.10s/33s out of the water.

Ya. And like I said not necessarily getting one of these 2 just trying to get a feel. I'm used to my v8 so I just don't want something with no balls

I'm in oregon. Far enough from the coast that rust isn't a huge issue for the most part round here. I need a dd, but want something lifed a bit on 33s or 35s to play with on the trails a bit.

Yeah i know the area, as i live in eugene. Toyotas are a little spendy here. but depending on what your looking for you can usually find something pretty good.

O right on, I am actually right up in Corvallis. Not much too choose from that I've seen but I found a couple that are worth looking at this weekend.
