Ivory Build-Up (86 4Runner 22RE)
This is my first post... I just recently traded with my friend for my new 86 4Runner. It just rolled 347K and is my daily driver so the improvements may take a little bit longer than someone with lots of time and money. This is my first build-up project, so if you guys have any suggestions for modifications or improvements, please let me know. I'm all ears.
Before I received the truck, my friend had installed LockRight Rear Lockers, an 84 transmission (that he found in a field), a wrap around rear bumper, and fabricated a custom front bumper and roof basket.
Recently I have replaced... Plugs, plug wires, distributor cap, rotor, alternator, fuel filter, air filter, oil filter, valve cover gasket, thermostat, and i've been working through some wiring issues.
In the very near future i'm planning on replacing the radiator (3 core from radiator barn), timing chain cover gasket, oil pan gasket, and distributor gasket.
I'll post more soon with photos and or videos.

I've decided to do a SR5 gage cluster swap tomorrow. while i'm under there i'm going to change out the gage lights and hopefully swap out the odometer, so that i can keep my same milage. Any advice or things i should do once i have the cluster out? I've read up on it a lot and feel like it should be pretty simple, but it never hurts to get a little more info from someone who has done it.

I wanted to apologize, i posted this thread three different times in three different categories... I'm not sure how to delete my previous threads but i will only be updating this one from now on.

I actually checked with my friend today about that... he and his brother replaced the timing chain and guides about a year ago. so i'm assuming that everything is good in that arena. But i'm heading to the wrecking yard tomorrow to do some shopping. hopefully i can find something good. Hoping to do the sr5 gage cluster... cluster lights... and who knows what else... depends on what i find.

Thanks Tito... U need to get your PU on here.
So i went to the yard today in order to find an sr5 cluster, but they didn't have one... so i decided to go wheeling with my future brother in law instead, he's only 13 and he drove over a rock that busted up my cross member... I'll probably go back to the yard tomorrow to get one. I know they have plenty of them.
Does anyone have any suggestions about where i can find a cluster?

I didn't have a whole amount of time today, so i installed a windshield washer fluid pump... My truck hasn't had a working washer fluid pump since i've owned it, so it is a welcomed add on.
Remove Tank

Install Pump

Attach wires and tubing.

Fill reservoir

GREAT SUCCESS.

Center Console Hinge Repair
I did a very simple center console repair recently... when i received the truck, the center console was just sitting there without being fastened down, and with no lid. I eventually found the lid in the back tool door... I fastened the console to the floor and and attached the lid. Unfortunately the stock plastic hinge was broken so it made the lid more of a hassle to have on than off. I went to Home Depot and got a 2.5" metal hinge, to secure the lid. After some dremel tool work, and six screws, the lid works great.
