529's and pinion spacer

Hi guys I am pulling the trigger on some trail gear 529's and the install kits . I am also gettin a spartan locker for the rear of the truck . I was wondering how many of you use the solid pinion spacer . I would also like to know how many havent used it and what kinda luck your having . I have a mechanic friend that is very good at what ever the touches but I didnt wanna have to ask him to do the extra work of setting up the solid spacer since hes doing me a favor setting these up for free for me . please give me some feedback about how you like your 529's and how much better it drives and all the juicy details . THANKS

everyone i talk to say use the solid pinion spacer because it takes alot of slop out of the pinion and also makes it so you dont ruin your gears as easily i heard it makes it stronger too. I have never put gears together without a solid pinion spacer.

Solid spacer is the way to go.

If you spend a lot of time in the rocks, it's a good bet you'll bang stuff up underneath and you could conceivably hit your pinion flange hard enough to further crush the "crush" sleeve and effect pinion preload which will eventually lead to premature ring and pinion wear/failure.

The best thing about a solid spacer in my opinion, is that if you ever have to change the pinion seal, it's simply a matter of zapping the pinion nut off, changing the seal and zapping the nut back on and not have to worry about resetting preload and the crush sleeve
