I'm new to the yota forum but this past September I completed a 355ci swap into a 1994 yota with the stock 5 speed manual. If you have any questions feel free to ask.

 

Justin, ... go to Photobucket and store your pics there. Then, put the cursor over the pics, one at a time, and click on the bottom link(IMG) and then come here, right click, "Paste" in the box here, and voila, you'll have your pics up.

I'm sure people will be interested in this, .....but MANY might just move due to the 'thumbnail' thing(especially when they don't work)... I know, some people, right? lol.... But why not do it right, ya know?

What kind of headers did you use

Tight squeeze on the steering? Or just optical illusion? lol. NICE!

 

I used the hugger headers from Northwest Offroad, and to be honest it was the only good thing I got from them.

Yes the steering was actually too close, I ended up cutting the ends off and replacing the middle of the steering with a solid metal rod that was a little smaller. Then I ended up adding 2 washers to the back 2 bolts holding the steering box to the frame which pushed the steering out to the side allowing me enough room. It was one of many complications I ran into.

I'm curious how many of you guys(US-V8 Swappers) throw TBI or otherwise intake styles in there..??? I know some do.... I remember a guy has a 5.0 in one on here.. Another has a Vortec V8 from a PU(GMC I think?) .........

Anyway, just curious if you pondered that, NOT saying it's better, etc., just curious.

what did you do for the radiator??? I am in the process of building my truck now...I am dropping a 30 over 350 with flat tops, 625/667 gross lift solid roller reed cam, brodix alum heads 2.02/1.60 heads, serp built setup, Roller rockers, and many extras...Trying to figure out what to use to mount radiator in bed....

 

thanks man, and yes a lot of unexpecteds. I decided to keep the engine simple so that I didn't need to do a computer and wiring harness and save me a little headache.

I plan to keep it drivable on the road, next step will be a solid axle and probably some 38s and I'll be content. (for a little while atleast)

I ended up putting the radiator in the bed reluctantly. When I first started this process I wanted to keep the radiator in the front and Northwest Offroad guaranteed me that I could, but needless to say after many phone calls and a lot of arguing I ended up having to put the radiator in the back for lack of room. I made myself a radiator stand and as soon as I save up a little cash I plan to bring it to an aluminum shop to have them put a nice cage around it. The biggest problem is to make sure you can bleed out all the air out of the water system, I'm still having this problem as we speak. Just this past week I bought a bleedable thermostat housing that I'm hoping will solve my problem and allow it to stay constantly cool.

I laid mine sideways so that it didn't stick up outside of the bed but also keep in mind if you do this you have to leave enough slack in your hose so that you can lean the radiator straight up to remove all of the air out of the system.

 

I think thats a little tacky :/ i'd find some way to fit it in the engine bay. could always get rid of the fan and use 3 shallow electric fans. most people do that with v8 swaps.

 

Well like I said in the beginning I didn't have room to put the radiator in the from because of lack of room. I ended up with a little over 3 inches of room between the condenser and the serpentine setup and my radiator was right at 3inches. The only way I could have put the radiator in the front was to take out my condensor and put a pusher fan in front of the radiator, but sense I live in Louisiana I figured I needed to keep my a/c so I reluctantly put it in the bed.
