Ruff Country 4" Suspension Lift 1983 Pickup
I purchased the 4" Ruff Country suspension lift kit for my truck (pics can be seen in profile under Album's) and a few places I called said I could fit 33's on it after the lift. Can anyone confirm this or does anyone have experience with that lift or Ruff Country lifts? I'm considering running 33x10.5xR15 KM2's on a Pro Comp 15x8 wheel. Thanks.

33x10.5 KM2's on Pro Comp 15x8's with 4.5" backspacing, but with a 1.5" spacer, so really only 3" backspacing...stock suspension with probably some trimming some previous owner did(when I bought the truck it had 35x12.5 KM's on it...they rubbed)

This was when I first got it with the 35's on it

Hope that helps, and I hope you didn't just get the lift to fit 33's, cause if so you didn't really need to.

I got the lift because the current suspension need replacing. The leaf springs on the front are actually so worn out they bend the opposite way and one of the shocks in the rear, the cover is rusted out and can see through the top part of it. The underneath of the truck is covered in rust so I have a lot of work to do to clean it up. The bed is completely rusted out so I am going to remove it and probably put a flat bed on it. I like this one I found on Google, http://4wheeldrive.about.com/library...1983TOYOTA.htm, so I may do something like that. Also how bad did the 35's rub? If i can fit 33's without the lift I would think a 35x10.5 may not rub as bad or at all since you had 35x12.5

I have this lift on one of my 1980's... I personally don't like it. It's been on the truck for 2 yrs, and rides rougher than you know what. Had to grind down springs for Ubolts to fit, etc. I have 32's on the truck right now, and could easily fit 33's with space. Be weary of putting a 33 on an 8 inch rim, no point of balancing with a rim that thin.

Also since I have had the truck I have replaced the spark plugs, fuel filter, air filter, ran some carb cleaner additive in the fuel tank. Is there anything else I should do? Not to familiar with the old 22r. The muffler was also rusted out, had no bottom anymore, so i got a new one from Autozone for $40 i believe and bolted it on. No idea how many miles is on it, the odometer says 104K but is also not working. The tenths place still turns but nothing else does.

33's will fit perfect. I had shot 36 inch boggers on a rancho 4 in lift (bought like that) and they rubbed at full turn, just the cleats on the side though.
I would do an oil change, check all the fluid levels. Then start working on that rust that you said about in a previous post. You don't want to have to go what I'm going through with my frame rust, Trust me. That's just my 2 cents, good luck bud!

I did change the oil and the belts on the motor were replaced they were really bad. I'm not sure what to do with the frame I guess wire brush it as I have no sand blaster. What kind of paint should I use? And primer?

Have you ever heard of Por 15? Great stuff. Paint Over Rust. I won't go into the details of how it works because I don't want to tell you something wrong ( I'm not an expert at the stuff ) I am going to be doing it to my frame in the next week or 2. From my understanding you should wire brush it first, apply marine clean, then hit it with metal ready and then the por paint on the light surface rust and it does wonders, no primer needed. But be warned it is nasty stuff, do not get it on your skin if you go this route. (I have heard more than one bad story about it but not personal experience) It's not crazy expensive either, I work at a parts store so I got a nice discount but I purchased all the supplies and a quart of por 15 for 33 bucks.

Yeah, that flatbed does look pretty cool. The 35's rubbed just moving it around the parking space behind a buddy's apartment, never really tried to flex it out cause it didn't run well enough to drive and the 35's were rotten enough I was afraid they'd split open if they got remotely warm. a 35x10.5 could probably fit with minimal or no rubbing with the lift, but I'm pretty sure the only 35x10.5 out there is Boggers. My springs are negative in the front, too, still working out what I want for more flex, though, as opposed to just more height. That's why I asked if you really wanted the lift.
I almost forgot, I actually put a little bit longer shocks on the rear, lets it flex more forcing the front to flex a touch more also. It's just enough that the inside tire does now rub where the pinch weld is pounded down when fully flexed and turned, but at the speeds I go when it's fully articulated, I don't see a problem. I'd imagine the 35's would be the same for you with those springs, especially if you got 10.5" wide. If you want a balancing idea, I like the Dynabeads, got em for both my rigs, and lots of people just get the better quality airsoft pellets and throw some in the tire when it's mounted. Dynamic balancing, don't have to worry about scraping off weights while wheeling or throwing them in general.

I am now considering keeping my factory wagon wheels and having blasted and powder coated for $50 a piece. The new white wheels I was looking at where $56 so not much of a price difference but the factory wheels are 5.5" wide if I read them right. Would a 33x10.5-15 tire be ok on those rims?
