Cody91 1988 4Runner Build-Up Thread

Well I got a 1988 4Runner 22RE, 5 Speed With some 33X12.5-R15 Copper Discoverer S/T.

It Was Sold to me (11/3/11) as a running project .... i did not want a Runner that was all done up Because i want to do it my self. I have had 4 Toyota's so far. I cant stay away from them.(91 Pickup Ext Cab, 22RE, 300K+Best 1st truck Sold)(89 Supra Turbo,Dead&Sold).. Now i got the 88 runner and 91 pickup, reg cab, 3.o,5speed,175k,Downey Tb, Billi's/4, Marlin shackles,31X10.5r15 Off Brand,Bucket seat mod, more but i forget..

BAck to the runner :Im gonna Start with the Bad's
  • Rear Drive line was in the back seat
  • No drive line bolts or nuts
  • Need's Rear U-Joints
  • Has 21/2" Blocks in the rear =(
  • All 4 shocks are blown
  • Paint is Shot
  • Runs bad with CEL
  • Gas and Temp Gauge does not work
  • Has a Cherry Bomb
  • Cat Is bad
  • Inside is missing Far Back side panel & trim
  • Back seats dont lock in
  • Back window does not work with the switch and the key fells likes its gonna brake
  • More to come when i dig in to it.

The Good's
  • 33X12.5 R15 Tires with 60% left
  • safari snorkel (Not hooked up)
  • ……… umm this is not good

Here are some pic’s the day I got it home

It Was a Bit wet To day so I got to work on finding out why the rear heater that the PO put in was all ways on ….. well that did not take to long. Im gonna wire up a switch for it and mount it soon..

Well the paint is Bad but there is still some good .. the driver door and finder were bad cuz the red was coming threw the spray paint

A little sanding and cleaning and tape work. Got to put some primmer on let it dry over night

Than sprayed it in the morning 3 coats of gloss black and 3 coats CC

Looks ok. =) Got to remover the pinstriping

More to come Soon !

Haha awesome, did you get the extra 22re with it too? Yeah not too many deals like that locally. I went and looked at this one the other day.. http://boise.craigslist.org/ctd/2758348144.html definately needs some work and has a pretty good exhaust leak but it's been there for a while and could probably get it for alot cheaper.. They're asking $995

I need the truck to be drivable got to use it till i get the SAS parts and any thing i do to it i can swap over the pickup (I.E Shocks, Bj spacer new leaf pack's...)
