PORKYMcCHODES 89 4 runner winter build up thread

hello everyone, new to the site here, seen alot of nice yotas on here so im gonna make a thread on my runner build. got this thing about 5 monthes ago. traded a nice CJ5 for it (i know, i just dont care for jeeps that much) had about 2500 in the jeep so seemed like a pretty fair trade.
as you can see from the 2nd pic, it needs alot of body work, but already i have 2 new doors and a tailgate. also so far i have put a new transmission in it due to the old one getting stuck in 3rd gear all the time. the odo reads a whopping 370xxx miles on original tranny so the fact that i was still driving around on it was pretty good. the 3.0 motor was replaced not long ago and has about 100k on it. future plans are:
fix all body work
new paint
new seats
diamond plate door panels/rear panels
fab up a soft top out of an old pickup tonneu cover
cut down on the lift, previous owner said it has a total of 11'' of lift. i know it has 3" body lift so that would mean it has 8" suspension lift. not sure of that maybe a 5" and it looks like it has some kind of aluminum spacers in the from too so i dont know. i plan on just cutting the body lift blocks down to 1".
replacing current 35"s with something more aggressive
5.29 gears front and rear

i want to try to get all this done before summer and still have it drivable during the winter incase of unexpected east tennessee snow storms. i will try to update with pics often. any info, comments, suggestions will be appriciated.

good lord you got a lot going on there, ball joint spacers, looks like a spindle drop, and horrific blocks in the rear. it can all be fixed, removed replaced and that's the good thing. good luck.

well everything in the front looked ok to me, looked pretty safe. i dont plan on wheeling it much, just the occasional mudhole. mostly just driving around town, i heard someone else on here coin the term "mall crawler". now the blocks on the rear i dont like. i thoght about at least welding them into one block until i could do something else back there. any suggestions?

You've got plenty of potential there, but it's gonna be alot of work. Reminds me of my rig when I picked it up. On that note, Good Luck!!

It looks like you are riding a little higher in the rear, so maybe just pull that smaller block then relax the torsion bars a little to level out the front. Your CV's will thank you!
