Crawler and highway gear noise

Ever since I added the Marlin to my '85, it has made some serious gear noise at highway speeds. I run down the interstate pretty regularly and once I pass 55mph the noise is serious unless I'm under power - any time I'm coasting or decelerating. Everything works fine and it doesn't make any noise at around-town speeds. So, is this just the price to be paid for adding another box full of gears, or do the cases need to be rebuilt?

Thanks for the input. That is kind of what I thought, but it's good to have some reinforcement.
