tranny trouble

out having a good time with my 91 yota ext cab 2.4 and all of a sudden bam got no gears no drive nothing! was not running it too hard. After a 2 hour walk I go t back to the road where I got a ride to town. towed the old girl back to the garage and that is where she is. Looked aroud but don't see anything out of place. but have not spent much time under it so not sure what I am loking for. Hate to pull the tranny and don't need to. Any ideas or thoughts? Have no gears at all it is a 5 speed not sure what to do. Help

I can feel it going into gear it feels like it did before so nothing out of place there. The clutch goes in and feels all normal do you think it is the clutch? I was reading on the clutch release cylinder or something like that have to take a look but not sure what to look for?

im not to sure about the clutch but (i'd think) if you can put it into gear with the truck running the clutch should be fine(no grinding or trying to jump and stall) not sure about that so i could be wrong. you could of somehow stripped out your output shaft or the sleve it mates into. you could of also messed up your rearend seems like it would of made some warning noises first. have someone else try and take off in the truck while you look under and see if the drive shaft is spinning if it is its definatly not your tranny. look from side not laying underneath. i dont know exactly would of went out silently.

also i think the sleve that the output shaft mates into is a softer metal so that it will strip before the shaft does.
if its not your rearend the transmission is going to have to come out for any type of clutch or internal tranny fix.

Ya I was thinking rear end as well but I did put it in gear and had a look under and the driveshaft was not turning. I guess I am going to have to drop it and see what is going on there! Thanks for the advice

Had more thought about the whole thing and checked the clutch well I have fluid at the release cylinder but when I pull the master and push in the clutch nothing? I pulled the line at the release cyl and it shot fluid everywhere so i am guessing that is all good.
