I drive a 99 4runner s5 6 cylinder 4wheel drive

Yesterday I noticed a small vibration in the truck while I was driving. I could feel it under my feet.

Today it is worse. I haven't driven it much. It vibrates when I'm driving, when I'm idle or when I'm in park. The check engine light is flashing now. (the check engine light is always on solid) I can only assume when it's flashing it really wants me to fix it! When I got out of the truck I noticed a little burning smell. It's night and pouring rain, so I couldn't tell if there was any smoke or not.

What could be causing this, I need to fix it asap!

Pull the codes. That will give you a good place to start. It could be a lot of things.

 

Are you describing a misfire? If so, the check engine light is flashing beacuse the misfire is occuring at such a rate that the catalytic converter could be damaged as a result. Hope this helps.
