Intake water neck sensors

I know one is for the temp gauge in the cab, but which one and what is the other sensor's purpose? It is a 20r intake and water neck.

Is that the one on the left, the one for the comp? I would assume that it is completely pointless in a carbed situation. Please let me know if this is not correct to assume?

Can anyone shed some light on this? I've got my coolant partially drained for some maintenance and am going to be removing one of these and replacing with a plug.
