will a 1985 toyota 4x4 22re motor fit in my 1991 toyota 4x2 22re???? is there anything im going to have to change or will this be a direct hook up???? i heard fuel lines and plugs were different but im not sure. please help now so i dont have to swap stuff over while motor is in truck :wabbit2:

 

The basic engines are the same there are sure to be some differences if you use the electronics off the engine now in the truck it should make it some what easier.

 

One obvious difference is the throttle body inlet. Early models turned down a little, later ones came straight out. I would also remove every sensor and fitting from the block/head/intake and swap them from the 91 to the 85.

 

Just swap your intake manifold (with injectors and sensors) and exhaust. Maybe distributor too,I don't know if there was a difference in those. Basically you just want to swap the long block part of it.
