Seattle to LA and back! 2000 4runner with 142k on the clock, did a tune (wires, plugs, filters, etc.) and hit the road! Last time only averaged 19mpg's but this time I kept my foot out of it. Running 285/55's, no susp lift, stock gears. Just had to post it, I love my runner!

You just decide to drive down to LA and back? I just drove to Kansas and back but at least I took a 3 day break

I only got about 11 mpg though, I was driving an F-450 Turbo Diesel. hehe

I know... I had to do the math twice! I drove down to meet and maybe pick up this guy:

But, sadly...he did not get along with my girl (the brindle one). So we hit Vennice for a few then drove back. Wish I brought my surfboard but was affraid of the reduced mpg's with it on the roof rack.

I've seen that or better but only when going from Springfield, MO to Houston, TX on every trip. But the rest of the time I was getting 20ish. We'll see how well it does now with my lift.

Getting ready to do basically the same thing only going almost to San Diego. I will have my two sons (adult boys 19 & 22) and luggage. Going down for the "annual migration" visit elderly parents, brothers and my youngest daughter is getting married on the beach in my home town so it is going to be a fun, packed trip. I will document the trip and post up milage as well, 1998 SR5 "Limited", electric fan mod, everything else, suspension, engine, body are stock. The only difference this trip will be I will have a hitch basket installed.

Have a safe trip Ritzy! I think traffic, time of day (ie: heat) make small differences when it comes to all those hill climbs. I plan my trips to hit that stuff at night! Maybe put a few extra lbs's in your tires.

That is the basic plan right now, leaving around 5:30am so I should hit Sacramento around 6pm. that leaves cooling temps as I drive through Central Valley and then pull the Grapevine hill headed for LA. Got love the driving directs... Take Highway 16 and turn left onto I-5", drive south for 23 hours and take the Tamarack exit in Carlsbad! Normally doing speed limit (55-70) takes 23 hours counting stops for gas and bathroom breaks. I should not hit any really steep temps as weather forcast shows highest temps in Bakersfield Saturday afternoon

I have Big O tires on my truck, stock sizes and they are the all weather tread radial made for our rainy weather have had them for almost three years and still have odoodles of tread. Normally run them around 40 psi. Max on tires is 44 so I may just bump them up to 42psi

Ritzy are you aware of the 405 closure through LA this weekend? I don't think anybody knows how bad things are going to be, but just a heads up that there might be traffic problems as you pass through LA.
