2nd Gen 4runner Roof Rack

I've searched high and low for a decent roof rack to mount to my baby, and I just couldn't find one.. So I took it upon myself to make one of my own.. Sad thing is never had mounting rails so i'll be drilling and mounting with well nuts.

Materials Used:
4 sections of 21' Round 3/8" solid bar.
1' of 1"x1/8" to make mounting feet
8 1/4" well nuts w/stainless steel bolts(won't rust :b)
6"x6" section of rubber pad to go between roof and feet..

Im not sure of what the dimensions are for the size of the roof, but I made mine 42"x48" by 6" tall.. the next few weeks i'm gonna be chopping the back and didn't want to re-do the rack. haha

Yeah, Im thinking of going 42 x 60 x 4" with a light bar. so it'll be a little longer than that.

Yeah if I was gonna keep the back I wouldve stretched it out kinda like a Gobi rack w/light bar at the front. Be pre sweet on an ole 2nd gen.

Update!!

Had to rework my mounting system.. The rubber well nuts weren't worth a sock full of pennies.. Went with a riv-nut design that was pressed into place. Also made two bars that go across the roof, to mount the basket too. While I was piddling I also made some limb risers that go from the basket to the front bumper.

Nice looking rack buddy. Are you going to mount any lights on it?

Yep, I have 4 100watt KC's on mine which are plenty bright but, I would like to change them to something in the same shape as my rectangular head lights, just to keep with that type of profile.

yeah I think imma go with some 6" off-road lights from harbor freight and switch the bulbs out to a higher wattage.. but at 11 bucks a pop its affordable.

i bet that rack will hold damn near a ton. solid 3/8 is no joke. i just finished mounting my shovel to my yak rack. also, if theres a swap meet in your area you may find a good deal. i found the 4 hellas i have on my rack for 90 bucks total.
