Why is AM2 30A fuse blowing on 97 4x4 Tacoma?
#1
Any help with my truck's issue would be so greatly appreciated!
My 97 Tacoma (142K) has never had an electrical issue before. Suddenly, on flat ground in 3rd gear, just about home (thank goodness), the engine shut off. I put the clutch in and turned the key and it would turn over but not start. I checked fuses and noticed the AM2 30 Amp ignition switch fuse blown. I replaced it and it blew again. I then checked the wiring for breaks or abrasions under the truck and in engine compartment. I didn't find any loose or bare wires. I tried disconnecting everything else that might feed off the ignition circuit (radio, fog lights, trailer hitch wires, etc). The wires connecting to the O2 sensor looked OK as well as others near the exhaust system. I replaced the fuse and it blew again. I'm clueless what to do now or what I should check.
Many thanks!

I discovered why the AM2 30 Amp ignition switch fuse was blowing. Two wires going into the coil unit were rubbing against each other and were bare, most likely due to the heat from being so close to the manifold, etc. They looked burned. So, I re-rapped the wires, replaced the fuse again, and the truck started up!
