I pretty much have everything minus the shocks, I just want to lift my truck now...lol! I was wondering, can I get away with stock shocks with LC Coils/BJ lift? Any input would be greatly appreciated.

how much of a lift is it? i do believe anything over 1.5 ball joint lift u have to replace the shocks for allowing the tire to drop all the way it can move.

 

no , you are gonna have to replace the shocks , and also get longer brake lines definately for the rear , i just did the bj spacers in the front , but the need to be extended too

you "could" but i'd be cautious about driving it. I wouldn't offroad it at all.

 

Im sure you could if you REALLY needed to if it was your DD but I would drive it as little as possible until they get replaced

 

I lifted mine about 4" in the rear, and 2" in the front, and I had to replace the rear shocks. only reason the fronts haven't been changed is cuz all i did was crank the T-bars. Gonna get some BJ spacers eventually, and some HD t-bars, so definitely gonna have to replace the fronts. just gotta take it slow.

 

I did LC coils and BJ spacers and tried to get away with running on stock shocks.. .it dont happen, you ride on them fully extended and it SUCKS (they wouldn't even let the coils extend to full static length). Just be patient and get some longer shocks before you put the stuff in.

My friend has 93 4runner and has around 4" lc coils (i think) he has stock suspension can he put those on without modifing anything obviously the front need lifted or should he just buy the lift kit ifs

 

i have an 87 pickup with 1.5 bjs and 2" blocks, stock brake lines and all i did to the front was shim the shock down on the stud abouut 3\4 of an inch. mine works perfecly fine. been like this for months and i wheel it on a regular basis. but yes it is recimmended but IMO you can get away with it.

 

I had put the same lift on my 94 runner and wanted to measure the full compression and extension before I bought the new shocks.... Before I got them, I ran the stock shocks in the back and it sucked going over the speed humps. There was only about 1 inch of shock extension and when it bounced, it would jerk the rear down.

You can drive it without brake or shock mods but you will not get any droop. You can also make some shock extensions for the upper mounts and extend your brake lines.

You gonna have to have at least 2" or more shock travel over stock.I did a BJ and torsion lift to fit my 33's but the ride was lousy but looks good so I did a SAS lift that can easily handle 33's to 37's with a better ride on and off road.
