Swimming with electronics

Two days ago I went to the lake and went through a crossing that was a lot deeper then normal. Cut the engine the cab filled up with water almost to the bottom of my seat. The truck was at an angle when I cut the engine but got pulled out pulled the plugs and all that so engine is fine drove it home but my problem is that yesterday I pulled the seats and carpet out to clean everything and pulled the battery out to take the ecu out to dry. Hooked everything back up but now when I put the battery back on the horn goes off and the parking lights stay on and car won't start I tried unhooking the alarm box thing under the seat and no horn but still won't start. Any ideas? Truck in question is a 94 4runner sr5

well the horn button ground the circut so i would start there you probably have a grounding wire before the horn button

Before drying out any wet electronics, it's not a bad idea to flush the case with distilled water or rubbing alcohol to get any contaminants out of there that might bridge a circuit or two.

When you say won't start, do you mean the engine doesn't crank / turn over -or- it cranks but doesn't run?

Do you have any information on the alarm that's on the truck?

its the alarm that is causing the no start. TRUST ME... I soaked mine several times before it finally gave out... Let it dry for a day or 2 (the alarm ecu that is) then plug it back in... the horn was going of, and headlights on because there was a short in the alarm ecu, once it dries out, it may work as it used to, or not do anything at all, but it HAS to be there for the engine to start.

I can turn it to the on position and the radio works lights work all the normal lights on the dash come on seat belt door ect but when I turn to start nothing no click from the starter or anything and before I pulled the interior it started just fine I'm wondering if when pulling it water got into the alarm box and now that is thinking someone is trying to steal it the alarm led is on as well
