Fuse Keeps Blowing!

I have a 15amp fuse that controls the gauges and tachometer that keeps blowing on my 88 Toyota pickup. Seems to blow when the engine is started or shut off. Thinking a short or power surger. Was hoping someone might have experienced this and know what is going on?
Thanks,
CJ

If it's the one I'm thinking of, it's the 'engine' fuse. Does your charge light come on when the fuse pops?

I had the same problem. I switched out my alternator with a spare I had. Haven't had an issue since. I think it was a faulty regulator that was sending, like you thought, a surge through the line.

That sounds very possible. I did have the alternator checked at NAPA and it was okay, but that doesn't mean something else inside it could be causing it

I had both alts tested and they both came back good also. Mine would happen at so many different times, but work fine for a day or two then back to blowing fuses. If you swap out with a new one and it still does it then you're chasing a short.
