'94 4WD pickup 22RE engine runs 3 2 seconds then dies

Long time reader, new poster. I have been a proud owner of a 94 4wd toyota for many years. Mechanically engine has been great. Aside from the routine items (brakes, battery, ect ) I have not had any issues with the truck. It currently has 225K miles and still runs strong. Timing chain was done back around 150 K. However over the last few weeks I noticed it developed a small oil drip between the oil pump and the lower block (right above oil pan). (Pic1.jpg) There is an o ring there that looked to be worn out.

Since I had take off the belts and oil pump cover I went ahead and replaced the oil seal and 3 belts.

I put it all back together and went to start the truck and it runs for a about 2 or 3 seconds and then promptly dies. While it does run it runs clean, dosnt sputter or anything. Per the book I checked the vacumm hoses and made sure I didnt jar any wires loose. Here is where I found what I believe to be the problem. Earlier when I was removeing air intake and air box next to the MAS I remembered I unscrewed the wire harness that goes into the MAS thinking it was a plug. When I did so I broke loose some of the solder contacts on the MAS sensor board. (pic 2). Ok, lesson learned.

I went to the local junk yard and of course toyota pickups are hard to come by. I found a similar MAS from a early 90's 4 cylinder camery (pic3). Unfortunuatly when I hooked this up to the truck it didnt work. Even though the body is similar they do have different Denso / Toyota part numbers :

My Part :
22250 - 35050
197100 - 4051

Camery MAS
22250 - 74101
197100 - 4060

I went to auto parts store and they verified that the MAS for my truck and the 93 camery had a different part number, so somthing was different.

Question is even though they loook the same are the logics inside unique to each ECM/ECU ? I read in the tech book if the truck dies after a few seconds the ECU is killing the engine due to a "pulse" or it's reciving a data point outside the normal range.

I have a MAS on order through O Riley and will recieve tommorow, however wanted to throw this out there in case I missed something.

When doing the oil seal / o ring / belts I couldnt of messed up the timing?

94' Toyota pickup won't start

I just replaced the fuel filter and fuel pump on my 22RE 2wd truck. Now it's cold outside and won't turn over. What could be the problem with this? I used heat last night and it turned over ran for a few mins and then cut itself out...please help. Thanks

You might want to become acquainted with the button.

But in all seriousness, you would probably get help faster with a new thread than to revive an old one.

Oh and Welcome to Yotatech!
