Have to crank it about ten revs then let it sit for 5 seconds then it tries to start and usually does within five more tries.

ONLY when the engine is cold. When warm it runs and starts like a champ.

about 5k miles on rebuild, done this ever since the rebuild. dont know if it did this before the rebuild.

once it starts it runs smooth as well.

Replaced cold start time switch, cold start injector....tryin to figure out where to go from here.

Had a similar thing on my 86.Fuel pressure leak somewhere on the fuel rail?After endless forums and web searches,had a friend bypass the CSI switch.Just flip the toggle switch and first time every time it fires up.You might also have a fuel damper leak,as I had.

 

Check your Circuit open relay. Try jumping B+ and FP in the diagnostic terminal to force the fuel pump on. If that fixes it your COR relay may be going bad. She's an old girl....

 

haha yup she is an old girl! I did jump the connector to make sure the pump turned on right away...I could hear it whirring in the tank...no change.

I might try another CSI switch...It came out of a 87 supra...and the supra started up no problem before it got scrapped so i just assumed that it was working properly...

 

http://www.google.com/search?source=...5820d0512&bs=1 from what I've read most of the CSI switches are somewhat different in their electrical readings.Also the thermo switch to the right of the CSI might be bad or wires loose/corroded.Like mentioned earlier,bypassing the CSI switch was the easiest,though not the book way to solve that.Not mechanical at all,just throwing out some things to you that I've read.

 

the thermo switch to the right of the CSI?? do you mean the efi temp sensor that is beside the cold start time switch?

would that have anything to do with hard starting? I thought that talks to the ecu and doesnt have anything to do with cold starting... I will look more into the time switch....hopefully its not a wiring problem...if thats the case and its somewhere in the middle of the harness i'd probably take your approach and bypass that switch lol
what do I need to feed the CSI to fire it? just 12v?

 

JeetS,just another thing I read about the thermo temp switch,as mentioned earlier I/m not mechanical and did not do the bypas switch either...if you do the bypass make sure the switch is rated for car/truck usage.http://www.google.com/search?source=...=&oq=22re+cold.
