Arrow Fixing my turn signals...

So i just got a 2000 4runner for a really good price because the bumper is messed up. the lower valance is gone and has no lower tun signal housings. Because it is missing the lower the turn signals the upper front corner signals dont work and the rear signals flash really fast. Is there any way to bypass the lower signals and just use top corner signals?

any insight would be great thanks!

The top corner lights are only marker lights. They don't blink. Stick a bulb in the lower turn signal sockets (the sockets are hanging somewhere back there, right?) and the hyper blink will probably stop.

you would need a double filament bulb and a 3 wire socket to make that happen. it's a popular "mod" to do for older trucks; you can certainly do it too.

you'll have to route the wires which feed the turn signal blink over to the corners, and replace the existing socket. or else, squeeze in a second socket. a dremel makes modifying the housings very easy.

you may need a universal flasher relay to eliminate the quick-flashing. stock relays notice the change in resistance and flash faster to alert you of a burnt bulb. some universals are made without this extra feature.

You can do this to use the marker lights as turn signals, they will still blink fast, unless you add a resistor or use the stock signals also.

a number of us have added a 2nd bulb to the corner marker lights-YotaTech member "RitzyRunner" authored the writeup I would recommend. I may even have another pair of Honda push in bulb receptacles if you decide to go that route.

That way the corner lights are still "parking" lights and when turn signal is engaged they also have a bulb for that function as well.
