Regarding 1999 and 2000 fuel gauges. At the bottom of this page you will find TSB EL010. Please review it and if your 4Runner is on the VIN list and exhibiting problems, please fill out the DOT complaint form

NHTSA got Audi to recall their defective gauges. Lets get ours fixed too, and get our taxes to work for us!

Since I ran out of gas doing 65 on the highway, I didn't classify it as a guage problem but as
FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE: DELIVERY

 

Yep, filed my complaint today. Dealer quoted me $1050 to repair a bad fuel sender, because I also need the instrument circuit board. Uggggh!!! And to think I used to be impressed with Toyota quality.

I realize I'm resurrecting an old thread, but you can thank Google for that. Are there any updates on this? I just realized my 99 4runner has a big fuel gauge problem, and I'd like to get it fixed. I filed a complaint on that site, but now what? Have you guys been successful in getting them recalled? I don't really know how this stuff works, any help would be appreciated, thanks.
