I read something not long ago about adding 2 cycle oil to your fuel in the winter time to increase the vapor pressure and make the fuel more efficient.

Has anyone done this?

What were the results?

What else have you added to boost mileage/power?

It seems to help in smoothing out the idle and helping keep the old pump running on the new low sulfur diesel. Mine did finally give up the ghost after about 10 years, so figured it was about time. Have a new pump to go in and will keep using 2-stroke.

As far as vapor pressure, oil won't raise that, you would need something more volatile than gasoline for that and they already to that with winter fuel mixes any way. Easy proof would be to pour a puddle of gas and a puddle of 2-stroke and see which one evaporates first. Would think 2-stroke in a modern gas engine would not be a good idea, might mess up the cat, O2 sensors, etc.

 

We ran 2 cycle mixed fuel in a little 20r 2wd toyota my brother had. Didnt do anything but stunk and had blue exhaust fumes

 

Won't make the fuel more efficient, but i can see it helping with the wear on your cylinders.
2 strokes only need 2 cycle because they have no crank case oil, only the oil that comes through the fuel.
Don't need the oil in a 4 stroke, due to the fact that you have an oil pan full of it

 

Cant imagine it would be any good for the 02 sensors or the catalytic converter.

 

wont help fuel consumption... if anything itll make it use more fuel.... but... It WILL lube the injectors nicely(dont go too rich or itll gum them up) and helps condition worn rings....

are you talking a pint ,quart, or gallon per tank or maybe even more.

I can`t see any gain except to make the gasoline even thicker in very cold temps.

Wouldn`t the oil have a tendency to just sink to the bottom of the tank after sitting over night

 

Modern 2 stroke oil is designed to never separate once mixed. I know the dirt bike oil I use specifically says on the container once mixed you do not need to shake the gas can again before refueling, of course I do anyway though.
