I have a 94 x-cab 4x4 with the factory steel wheels.

I have been eyeballing craigslist for some early 90's factory alloys.

I also have a buddy up in VA that has 3 (looking for #4) Landcruiser wheels, that he will give me. He said his Land cruiser wheels were the same that came on the trucks and 4 runners.

Question, is the backspacing the same on all the early - mid 90's alloy wheels regardless of truck/4Runner/Landcruiser?

I have found several sets for as little as 100.00 but some came off 4 Runners and Land Cruisers. I dont want to buy a set and it not clear the brakes or stick out too far.

 

Can't really answer your question but backspacing isn't your only concern here. It's also wheel offset.

For example a backspacing of 3.75 on an 8 inch wheel is not the same as a 3.75 backspacing on a 7" wheel. The offset is different. The offeset is the measurement of the relation between the centerline of the wheel and the mounting surface.

So basically if they had the same backspace but a different width then the wheel will either sit too far in or two far out for your liking.

 

I'm almost positive that if they're the same wheel pattern (style), they're the same. I've seen landcruisers with the same looking alloy wheels my 93 pickup had, and I think they are the same size. I think with those first alloy wheel style, they didn't make different sizes. That's my favorite stock toyota wheel, too.

 

I understand all of the early - mid 90's alloys were 15x7's. If there are 15x8's then it could be a problem too.

Also backspacing and offset are basically 2 ways of describing where the wheel mounting flange is located, one is relative to the inside face fo the wheel, the other is relative to the center:

No, there are not wheels that were on both 4Runners and landcruisers. However. They will all fit. FZJ80's got factory 16x8's. What the backspacing is, I'm not sure.


And yea, backspacing and offset are 2 different ways of measuring the same thing.

I've got nothing else more to add except the 93-97 FZJ80 wheels are forged.

Be careful as 93-94 is actually a little different than the 95-97 even though they have the same look.

93-94 uses conical lugs while the 95-97 uses the shank style. Correct lugs must be used to ensure safety.
