22re to 22r swap?

So my daily driver 87 4runner started making a horrendous knocking noise from the engine with serious power loss. So i found a cheap motor on craigslist to swap in for the time being. only problem is that it is a 89 22r and my truck stock is a 87 22re. I know that the blocks are everything else is basically identical but are there any unknowns I will have to factor for other than just swapping the EFI components over to the new engine? The ECU and fuel pump, etc is already there. Would it be easier to just swap in the 22r and keep it carbed?

It would actually probably be easier to keep it EFI. '89 22r, so it must be from a 2wd. The oil pan and pick-up tube will be different, so you'll need to put your 4wd one on. Basically all you'll need is the block and head from the '89. Everything will be bolt-on.

easier to keep the efi, possible to just convert it to carb'd. i was thinking about it to convert to propane, but found a kit that i didn't need to.
