G027 code 3.9 gear ratio

I'm a newbie here. just purchased a 92 4runner 2WD. Vehicle came with 31x10.5 and from the axle code it looks like the truck has a 3.9 gear ratio. Can anyone let me know if this needs to be adjusted if we keep the 31s?

That makes no sense. G027 isn't possible. The last digit, 7, can't be right. There is no 7, only 2/3/4/5/A/B/C. G stands for an 8" differential, and 02 would be 3.36. The 31" tire option came with 4.556. So 4.56(G252 or G254)would be stock.

Its a 2wd 4runner.. so it can have 2wd.
And it probably is 3.90, hell I've got 2 of those 8 inch 3.90 diffs outside lol.

Go27 code 3.9 gear ratio

G027 is correct. it is on the door tag. i don't know if they were factory 31's. I believe the 92s came with two options 225s or 31s. The 31s are retreads so we are getting 4 new tires. I researched the code-gear ratio and the 3.9 is what came up but i know that may not be accurate so we may have to do the manual test. My big question is that if we stick with 31s should we change the gear ratio to a 4.3 if it is 3.9?

Exactly. It's a 1/2 ton 4WD chassis, with an 8" rear end and suspension setup to handle them, so why wouldn't it come with 31's? It just don't have a front axle and a transfer case.

That axle code's wrong though too. I don't care who says what about that. It probably does have 3.90's, I agree. But the code would have to be G074 or G072, NOT G027. NO CODES END IN 7, ONLY 2 3 4 5 A B C.

The chart below also states:

07=3.900
4x2 4R V6 AT
also '81 4x4's

92 2WD 4Runners with V6's also came with 3.417's. All V6's have 8" rear axles, most have axle codes that end in 4 or B(4-pinion, open diff), some end in 2 or A(2-pinion, open diff). Likely codes for those then would be: G384 or G382(8" 3.417), B01B or B01A(8" 3.42)
