I have a 94 4runner that I am about to replace the head gaskets and water pump on, and I am unsure as to which 3.0L I have. I have seen all kind of info online about vin numbers and how to tell, but the sites just contradict eachother. I just want to make sure I follow the repair manual right according to which engine I have. The engine Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks

 

its probably a 3vze as the 3vzfe was found in camry's.

 

You can pull the plastic cover in passenger footwell, right side. That's where the ECU is, it will say engine code right on it.

Thanks guys, do any of you have opinions on gasket kits. Fel pro vs. beck/arnley vs. dnj/rock?

 

ive heard good things about fel-pro. and engnbldr is the man, great service etc. i'd order from him...

and when i got my gasket set, i found out that engnblder's gaskets are just re-packaged fel-pro's anyway!!!
