tach install question

tach install question

im installing tach on my 93 22re motor. and know the green wire goes to the negitive side of the coil. but i cant locate it there is a plug that has a white and a black that go into the plug im thinkin i just tap the black wire with the green it should work ?

if you want you can tap into the diagnostic plug on the igniter.

just touch your green wire to either side of the coil till you determine which is the neg, it wont hurt anything. tach wont work on the +side.

i think your right but with the power on u should be able to check it for power or not, also look at this site will tell u where wires are.

thats just it there is just a flat thing bolted with the ignitor. and has a two wires bout an inch and a half long that come out of the ignitor and they is a plug on the end of it that goes into the coil and no way to tell witch one is negitive one ?

just tap off the diagnostic plug wire. That's how i tapped off for my SR5 cluster since my truck wasn't pre-wired for the tach.

could some one post a pic of where to connect the greenwire to i dont want to go cutting up the wires .

there is a loose green connector that is attached to the ingiter, might have a black cap on it. Attach a female spade plug to the green wire and plug it into the green diagnostic connector. No need to cut any wires. See where they have that single black wire going to that green connector with the black cap on it? Notice it is labeled tach?
