Exclamation Door handle -- exterior

Hate to just post my problems, but I'm stumped.

We just moved last week and during moving I noticew that the passenger side door handle would pop out slightly (less that 1/8 inch) when the door handle is used.

Possibly done by adding too many boxes then shutting the door?

Handle will pop back into place, but quickly dislodge when open agian. MOst write ups are for taking off the door to get to the speakers, not sure if they will work for getting exterior door handle off???

Need advice on how the dang thin is held on , or know if I just need a new one.

Thanks Agian,

Tod

ive never had this problem so im not sure what the correct way to fix it is, but id think as long as it still works and the only problem is it not sticking in, glue it back in, or epoxy or something to keep it in its spot. Ive got no idea if this is safe but id think it would work, if thats the only problem

Ew, no don't use epoxy. Is the whole handle popping out or just the part that you grab?

If its the whole handle, and its like my truck, there are just two bolts holding the door handle to the door. I had this same problem with my truck when I got it back from the paint shop. I would pull on the handle and the whole handle would come out of the door about 1/8th -1/4 an inch. All that needed to be done was the bolts holding the handle needed to be tightened.

It should be easy to access, just take the door panel off. Then with the window rolled up look into the door and see if you can see the door handle. I know there is a rubber cap on the door that can be taken off to access one of the bolts the other should be easier to access. If I remember right they are 10mm bolts.

DISCLAMER: This is if your rig is set up like the 2nd gen's if its not set up like the 2nd gen's is should be very similar.

Unhappy door handle

It is the whole handle assembly. Looked at it close this afternoon and could not tell if it is missing a clip or bolted? Will have to strip off door panels next weekend and see if it is held together like a 2nd Gen.

Thanks

I'm willing to bet that its bolted and the bolt just came lose. Hopefully someone who has a newer model will chime in.

I swapped out all 4 handles on mine...the bolts must have worked loose...easy fix. If the nuts fell off, should still be in the door at the bottom...good luck.
