Semi truck air tank for OBA

First off, hello everyone! I've been lurking this site for awhile now and learned a great deal just from searching around and poking through the various threads here.

I'm currently in the middle of setting up an on-board air system on my 4runner and was looking for an air tank but was wondering if anyone has ever used the tank out of a semi's air brake system for their system? It seems like these tanks can be had, used, for cheap but I cant find any information on pressure ratings or port sizes for them. I would assume they are all DOT or SAE J10 compliant but cant figure out what pressure they would be rated to.

I found some aluminum ones, used, for cheap and was going to call and see if I can get more info about them. http://www.acmeequip.com/detailview....vendor=5470674

I'm planning on running my system at 150 PSI so I'm mostly worried about the pressure ratings on these tanks. Am I smoking crack or is there any reason you can think of that one of these wouldn't work?

Should work fine just air it up before installing it in vehicle.

Like any other air tank if sitting to long with moisture in it will rust from the inside out.

If I remember the ports were 1/2" or at the most 3/4" npt

Well a semi builds from 120-130 PSI so I'm sure that they have a higher burst rating.

If you're looking to spend close to $70 on a used aluminum tank, why not get one that's new and freshly rate for $10 more - ebay has aluminum air ride tanks for right around $80

looks like that semi tank is close to 8.5-9 gallon? Based on it's dimensions. Those $80 ones on ebay are 5 gallon. Maybe he's looking at the size of the tank as well?

Yes, size is a consideration. Most of the air ride tanks with a similar capacity are 12+ inches tall (because of the integrated mounts) were these should only be 10" and hold roughly 9 gals. Also I would assume that these are SAE j10 approved were as few of the ebay tanks even state they are DOT compliant. Plus they actually start as cheap as 50$. http://www.acmeequip.com/search.php?...UE&PartID=1975

Thank you for all the replies, I'm going to call these guys on Monday when they are open, and see if I can get some more info about them.
