Wrangler MT/R can only be mounted with white letters out?
Ok, Hello everyone!
I need clarification on something, Yesterday I was about to order a set of four "Wrangler MT/R Kevlar" on 33x12.5x15. That was until the tirerack sales paerson stated that this tire, in this particular size are only offered with white letters side wall. He also mentioned that since they are "assymetrical" tires, they can only be mounted with white letters facing out. Is this true? I've seen other trucks in this forum equiped with the exact same tires, same size with letter facing in. What would happen if I were to install them black wall out anyway? Goodyear website does not offer any information on this. Can someone please explain? Thanks!!

You can mount them with whitewall in. I went with the duratracs. I would recommend going with the duratracs, because they act like a highway tire and are much better in the snow(28" with my t100 this year without getting stuck). My other employee does wheeling and he had the mt/r and went with the duratrac, because they seem to last longer to.

They are asymmetrical. However, there are plenty of reports across the internet of people mounting them with the white walls in with no ill effect.
But, IMHO, if your considering not getting a tire simply because visual reasons, maybe you don't need the performance of the MTR's.

This page shows which tires are white walled and which are black. Noted by the W or B at the end of each size.
BTW, these tires ROCK

Ok! I appreciate eveyone's input to my question! Now can someone share their experience with these tires? Like, How many miles c assuming you have a proper an you expect to get out of them? Assuming you have a properly aligned truck and with proper rotation/balance?
Thanks again to everyone!

I'm thinking I should be able to safely get 50K miles out of mine.
After 5K miles, I had maybe 1/64th of an inch of wear on the front tires. The rears are another story due to the rear lockright. I think I had 1/32nd or 1.5/ 32nd's of wear. The tires will now be rotated every 3-3500 with every oil change.
A plus about these tires is they don't seem to chunk on the corner side lugs like I've seen happen to almost every set of KM2's I've laid my eyes on.

yes i had a set of these on my cherokee (33x12.5x15) and i had the same problem. when they showed up i learned they could only go whites out. that was my plan anyway so it wasent a big deal. i loved everything about those tires and would def recomend them. they pulled through mud and crawled rocks with ease. also they worked very well at about 12 psi on the trail

I was hoping to hear this!
I picked up a set and was told that they had to be white out, but went against their word and told them to put black out(black truck, black wheels, hate white letters
), which they did. A few days later I noticed my sidewalls had started to slice. The tire shop ordered me 4 new ones to replace them, I'm banking on it just being a manufacture defect...
