Yet another 22R noise thread

How's it going guys? Ever since I had a rebuilt 22R installed in my truck, it's had this weird rattle that only occurs when the engine is returning to idle. It sounds a lot like the sound in this video, only not as loud

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lw4zo...eature=related

Could my engine have out of spec wrist pin bushings like the engine in the video? It only has about 2,000 miles on it. Also, when you start up the engine when it's warm but has sat for about 10 minutes, it makes a kind of knocking sound that quickly goes away after about 2 seconds. It only makes the knocking sound under those conditions though, and doesn't make it under normal driving. Does anybody have any ideas? Is my engine junk?

Edit: Got a sound file of the knocking sound, working on finding a way to post it

well, I know that video isn't yours, and not to scare you but I had this problem as well, would only rap on startup, when letting off throttle and at high RPMs. Thought originally it was the timing chain. Replaced that, still there. About 5,000 miles later well, spun the #4 rod bearing. Who knows how long it was rapping before I bought the truck.

But it only does it sometimes. Wouldn't a rod do it all the time?

Mine didn't until the bearing got so loose it spun and wiped the bearing because it covered the oiling holes then it made one hell of a racket.

I can't figure out how to upload the stupid sound file! I really hope it's not rod knock, I can't afford to have my truck taken all the way back to Albuquerque

Edit: Does anybody know how to embed a .wav file into a post?

How come your engine is not moving in the video? The reason I ask is it sounds like your running 2 cylinders at start up , but I dont see the engine shake or even move at all .

It's just a photo. The only way I could upload the sound file was to make a video, and I don't have an actual video of my engine so......

Well I spoke to the builder today and he said to just watch the sound and see if it worsens, and if it does, I'll have to take my truck back to Albuquerque so he can figure out what the problem is

I wouldn't wait too long to have this rebuilder take a look at it. Cus if it takes however long to get worse you can be past his "warranty" period and he won't fix it. Any motor rebuilt or not should not sound like that.

Also if a rod bearing or chain on the cover, it will give almost no warning before the truck is not drivable, then how you gonna get the truck there for him to take a look at it? Is he gonna pay to have it towed there? I would think not.
