20r head? You got an 86 rig, hope you got an 81-84 motor in there.

His compression is gonna be way low too. Not sure on the timing chain fitting or not though. Oh and I don't think there is a setup to efi the 20r head, but I could be wrong.

okay so it looks like I will be porting my 22re head, staying away from the 20r head .......I wanted to run a carb set-up but I might just find some injectors and stay with this set-up.....This motor had 310,000miles befor I pulled the engine (still ran good, few rattles a 3-4000 rpm. plus the injectors leaked so start up was rough

Why would you want to run a carb set up? EFI is just so much more efficient, and isn't that the bonus to buying a post 84 truck?

heh see my sig. Glad my 87 is carb'd more and more every day. EFI might be a little more fuel efficient and slightly better on HP, but it's more efficient for me if anything were to go wrong with the motor to troubleshoot it. And you can't use the extra HP if the truck sits for a week while you try to figure out why the motor isn't getting fuel. lol.

I have had both EFI and carb, and I do not miss pumping the gas to start the car, messing with a choke and being able to go to the mountain without doing any adjustments. To me a carb setup is just a controlled gas leak. But if I were to have a carb setup again, I would swap mine to propane and make it almost as good as EFI. IMO of course
