Long Travel Suspension IFS Tips and Helpful Hints
Well, I'm sure this topic has been covered several times but, maybe it hasn't. If it has, I apologize in advance, and please send me the links to the threads if that is the case. A little FYI, I have done my homework, I understand what I'm getting myself into and blah blah blah... So I don't wanna hear all the 'do your homework first' crap.
I got myself a '93 4x4 22RE single cab pickup. I've had thoughts about doing the SAS on it but, then I see pics of the prerunners and they seem a bit more fun. Especially for me, I like haulin' ass accross whoops and what not. I always tell people my ideas and they always ask, "Why would you want to do that ˟˟˟˟ to your truck?!" I simply say, "Do you have any idea how cool it would be to go 75MPH accross some whoops, drinking a glass of wine without spilling a drop?!" Ha ha! That's beside the point...
What I'm getting at is, I've looked and looked for threads, forums on pirate, even ttora for some pics, build threads, etc., for some tips and what not on how to do it. I have the 'know how,' but I'm running into a few questions and concerns.
I'd still like to keep it a 4x4, AND street legal. Now, I look at my truck constantly, on a daily basis just imagining all the possibilities! It all seems, 'rather simple.'
I was just curious, once I get the control arms built and everything, what have I got to do to keep it street legal? Such as tie rods, pitman arm, etc... That's where I'm kind of confused.
AS I STATED IN THE BEGINNING, I aplogize in advance if this thread has been covered several times, but I can hardly figure out how to work this damn site. Took me about 30min to figure out how to post this! Ha ha! So, if this topic has been covered already on this site, or even other sites that you know of, your posts would be much appreciated.
Thanks.

I've had Jeeps, Samurais, Land Cruisers, SA mini-trucks, a few full size rigs, a Scout and even a buggy, but the most fun I've had in years is in my Blazeland long travel equipped 4Runner.
Your choices for a '93 is pretty much Total Chaos or Blazeland and that comes down to price and intended use.

If you really want to hit whoops hard I would go total chaos. Blazeland doesn't have nearly as much R&D into their product. That's my .02. You'll need fibre glass flared fenders to keep it legal.

Also my experience with the 22re in dunes is that it doesn't really make enough power to go 70 especially not up dunes. I'd look into getting a 3.0 v6 pickup and swapping the 3.4l. Seems to be the cheapest platform to build a v6 prerunner from.

i'm curious as to the differences
hey there, noticed this and i've got a 93 3.0v6 4runner here. I'm thinking about 33" tires with a blazeland setup. i've already got a 2" 4crawler bodylift on her and i've got some heavyduty Torsion bars.
Camo 10.5 did you do the blazeland? I'm curious
also looking forward to the original poster's questions actually being answered.
