V6 Rearend Swap

Hey guys are there any advantages in strength to putting a V6 rearend in my 85 4Runner? Are the ring and pinions any thicker/ stronger? These rears are about 3 inches wider than my stock 85 axle, right? Are there any downsides to using the V6 axles and gears? What brand of gears do you guys find the most durable in a 5.71 Ratio? I used to use Precision gear from Reider, but I understand that company has changed hands and the quality is no longer there. Is the Yukon brand worth the extra money they cost compared to other gears? Thanks.

Which bearings are bigger, all 4 of them? I don't see how bigger is necessarily better or stronger. What do you mean by larger casting on the differential? The V6 unit will fit any 8 inch housing? Is there a difference in the turbo differentials?

turbo diffs are the same as v6. 4cyl gears are the same just have a shorter pinion standoff. i have 4cyl gears in my v6 diff just had to stack a few shims. the carrier bearings are bigger and the carrier itself has 4 spider gears instead of 2 its calls 2 pinion instead of one center pin and only 2 spiders, hope this helps, check out erik's diff info its says it all

The pinion bearing are alot bigger! The v6 - Turbo cases are bigger heavier and stronger. Ring gears are still 8 inch. The. V6 carrier has a stronger not posi dual spider gear carrier

Guys thanks for the info. Let me ask a question this way. If you could put any of the Toyota rears under an 85 truck, which one would you use and why? I may be going over kill, but I want the best I can get for my mudding truck especially. I need to run at minimum 5.29's, but currently have 5.71's and would really like to stick with them, especially considering I may go up to 42s or 44s in the near future on it. Thanks for all the info.
