ok so i just did a timing chain job and put new gaskets on, and i used some gasket sealer on both sides of the gasket. but it leaks bad.


so i just got home with another gasket. should i use sealant on it again? how should i go about this to be leak free? i really hate tearing down the front of this engine

 

just did mine last week and used a little gasket sealer to stick them on the motor to make installing it easier but didn't use a lot. Make sure when you install the timing cover it sits flush in all sides as i've heard of some covers not sitting quite right and needing to be trimmed to fit perfect. I also tightened the bolts in a criss cross pattern to make sure it fit snug on all corners as opposed to tightening and moving to the next closest bolt.
