Parking Brake Cable

Went to replace my front parking brake cable on my 87 pickup and despite being the correct part number for my truck no matter who I check with, it's clearly wrong. The old cable is longer and connects with a pin on the back end. Anyone recognize this? Does it appear this has been changed out somewhere along the way or is there a variation I'm not aware of?

Same guy that put this in the 84-85 section sold you the cable.

Take the old one back with you and match it.

No one seems to stock it and since the one I already ordered is correct according to the system, they can't figure out what to order.

They should backtrack to the original part number and see where it got screwed up and cross referenced and merged with some other part number, which is obviously wrong.

OR

Your parts guy ordered the wrong part and is a doofus

OR

They sent you the wrong part.

Seen it happen before, right number receive wrong part.

Just got back from the parts store, seems the answer is #2, parts guy is a doofus. It was clear when the pregnant parts girl that helped me today (despite her nausea that sent her running from the parts counter) figured it out immediately and after seeing who ordered the part for me said under her breath *I should've known it was John*

Looks like I need to go to the dealer and pay 3 times as much.

Take your old one to a bicycle shop and ask if they can make you something.
PS: The 4Runner cables are shorter than the Xtracab ones. Ask me how I know.
I ended up just using wire to make up the distance. Linking the short cable and the parking brake lever (under the truck).
Whatever, it holds the truck well. Wire is wrapped a bunch of times and probably stronger than the cable.

Just looked on Napa's website and there are two cables, a Front and rear one. By the looks of the end on that cable it looks like the front one that you need, and you currently have the rear one.
