Exhaust farting ( misfiring )22re help

Hello i bought a 22re truck about 4 months ago, and recently ive noticed that after a short drive when i stop and the engine idles, the exhaust makes a weird farting sound or sort of like a popcorn popping sound,
Anyone got an idea to what mite be causing this?

It could be misfiring a bit, maybe a tuneup is in order? Take a video of the sound, that will make it easier for us to help you diagnose the problem

No kidding, lighten up and get off the computer and go outside for a bit, then maybe u wont be so grumpy.

As for the problem, sound/vid clip would help. Also what year truck are we talking about? Your tack stays at the same rmps and everything while is making this noise?

Misfiring, yes it was. thanks for the help guys, just pulled out the spark plugs and cleaned them (they were covered in gunk) now no more farting

Only down side is i put those spark plugs in about 3 months ago. I guess if there this corroded already that means im gettin alot of oil dripping through my valves?

What color was the gunk? Also, were the plugs dry or did they seem oil soaked?

The gunk was black, most of the gunk was dryd on. some of it was a bit wet and gooey

the wet and gooey could be just from the dried on stuff causing the plug to not spark and the subsequent un-burned fuel in the chamber. I would just replace them and then check again in about 200 miles or so and see how they look then and use the above reference guide to point you in the right direction. SOmetimes plug problems can be just from some bad gas. Happened to my moms Matrix. She never went back to that gas station.

hmm well the truck is 91, and its got 435000 on it. Maybe the valves are just wearing out a bit and leakin/burning oil? thx for the guide btw
