Heim Joints for Tie Rod Ends

Does anyone know where I can get a Kit like the one found here?

This is not exactly a direct bolt on for my 86 4runner but I need to find a kit that has everything I need to replace my tie rods and ends with heim joints.

Yea that's what I'm lookin for but there's no way I'm payin 500 bucks for it. If anyone knows of a cheaper solution I would appreciate it but if not I'll go with the trail gear set up. Thanks though!

Wtf, they're bending you over hard on this one. You can find the parts to make the same thing at this site: http://www.speedwaymotors.com/Rod-En...s-Sleeves.html

for over 1/4 of the price. It will take a little more work to find out the sizes and so on but you'll save alot of money.

It's not the bolt but the one that is tapered for easy fit in a tie rod.

most just drill the taper into a straight one.

just curious, are you breaking a lot of ends?

do you have a massive long travel setup that it requires these ends?

Haven't broken any yet but I have some serious angles on my tie rods due to the 1.5" ball joint spacers and my t-bars being cranked a little. My old room mate had the same thing and he broke a tie rod going down the road and totaled his truck bad he had some pictures on here when it happened his username was red3.slow. But yea anyway to lower the steering a little or raise that bracket by the wheels would help too.

maybe a drop pitman arm would be a cheaper way out to fix those steering angles?

from what I have gathered researching heims, it seems to me that heims on a dd is a bad idea because they tend to collect the water and dirt etc leading to premature wear of the joint. on a trail only rig they tend to last longer if they are properly cleaned out if mud running at all. if the rig is strictly a crawler and does not see any type of mud/water then they will outlast any joint out there.

if you look where the outer tire rods go into, it's like a curved arm that bolts onto the hub via 2 bolts.

i have similar issues due to my long travel kit and while i dont have the t-bar cranked like crazy, i know that it kinda limits the drop.

i had DREAMED in the past about making new pieces. i need a CAD drawer/programmer. i found a source who has a CNC machine and can make pieces.

my other option was to take 2 of them. then cut off about 2 inches from one and then weld the other on top.

the net effect is that it raises the mounting point an inch or so...

thats why it pays to live/play in the desert and not play in the mud.
