My truck pings alot so i unpluged the KS and it don't do it with it unpluged what can i do to fix that

it's a 22RE

 

fuel filter, fuel pump, injectors, bad gas, carbon build up on pistons, vacuum leak. all can cause a ping. probably forgot to mention some more, not sure what the side affects are of not having that KS unplugged though. Yet another eason why I like my carbed truck. it runs the way I tell it to run.

 

Make sure the timing is set properly, replace the fuel filter if its been a while sense it was done and see if that helps. If it doesn`t, then get some sea foam and run some through the intake and put some in the gas tank, that will clean out any carbon build up in the engine. How many miles on the engine ?, has the timing chain ever been replaced ?.
