BTW if you look at my build thread, you will see I had mine repaired in that same spot. but by the looks of the rail behind it, that frame doesn't look too good.
This is the second frame thread in like a week here too.

hey extreme,if the guy that repaired yours didnt pull the gas tank than he did a subpar job.tank should have been pulled and inner frame boxing removed, cut rust out and plate from inside.i have seen many butchered frame repairs.i have repaired many and you dont take shortcuts.just my 2 cents worth.anything is fixable but dont waste your money unless you do it right.

Well without seeing the frame up close it is hard to make a call about repairing or replacing .
It might be nice if people told us where they were from.
I agree about the fuel tank but if there was no reason to remove it why add the extra labor to the bill . I have done it both ways and would not say it was a subpar job in either case.
If one had the place time and skills you could splice a rebuilt frame in under the cab somewhere. Unless your in the Southwest the chances of finding a good used frame are not good unless it was stored inside someplace

I'm in pa, so finding a back-half is pretty much non existant, the guy that did my frame has been working in a leaf spring shop for longer than most of us on here have been alive. He has repaired many toyota frames the way he has on mine. And well lets say, two winters now with it and a good pounding on the trails, it's holding up just fine. Oh BTW he used like 3/16 plate to repair the cutouts he was able to make. I would think it's actually stronger than the what 1/8" if that of a box.

Looks like you need to do what I did. Box the entire back half of the frame. See my website for details

Cost me $350 to have him do both sides. He did not have to drop the tank.
